Through education and conversation we empower people to make wise decisions, collaborate effectively and amplify value.

Color Accounting uses a diagram called BaSIS Board™ to show how accounting – and therefore also finance and business – works.

The diagram is a concept map.

It lets you clearly see how financial events impact a business. It creates 'pointability' so that you can use a finger to show exactly what you mean when discussing financial matters. This is particularly useful because the double-entry nature of accounting often causes confusion. For example, with the diagram, cash can't be confused with revenue, which is a particularly common misunderstanding.

Color Accounting explains the fundamental concepts of accounting, built up from first principles to make the learning meaningful instead of rote.

Our approach is intellectual and accessible - we don’t oversimplify and we don’t use meaningless memorization. Instead we use tried and tested ideas and stories to help you understand and relate your new knowledge to your own life.

The methodology uses distinctive colors and physical movement to engage you and reinforce learning. The colors are an integral part of the understanding because the methodology is logically overlaid onto the established structure of traditional accounting. It's the 500 years of accounting technology, brought to life with color and language for the modern age. Physical activity invites enthusiastic engagement in the learning journey.

Accounting is replete with confusing jargon. Accountants use the same word for different things, and different words for the same thing. Not to mention words that are illogical: income doesn't actually come in. The System addresses these issues by using highly deliberate plain language.

Color Accounting encourages independent exploration and debate while providing a highly structured, conceptually coherent explanation of the world of accounting and business finance.

Our courses and seminars are built around the principles of Color Accounting.

Participants receive a package of physical materials and stationery for hands-on learning. The package includes necessary stickers, perforated journal tickets, a popup 3-D board, storefront cards, fold-out sheets, and crayons. None of the components are gratuitous: the learning is fun, but serious.
