Client brief

Background

Many professional services firms in the United Kingdom hire graduates who have completed studies in accounting and auditing, as well as liberal-arts and science graduates who have no experience of accounting and need to study during their employment.

PROGRAM GOAL

To establish a common platform of understanding between all new-hires, and to accelerate the journey to “bill-ability” (the revenue generating ability of the employees), this professional services firm sought a new training solution to use across the whole business in their annual summer onboarding cycle.

The objective was to teach their new employees how accounting, auditing and business finance work, and to embed powerful mental models that will underpin the technical training that follows.

Solution

Train-the-trainer

Wealthvox licensed this professional services firm to use Color Accounting™ learning method under our Internal Program Delivery (“IPD”) model. Ten of their trainers went through the Wealthvox Facilitator Development Program with supporting facilitation resources (videos, sequences, slide decks, etc.) and were accredited to deliver the one-day Let’s Talk Finance course. We then provided End User Licenses, Popup BaSIS Boards™ with supporting kinesthetic learning materials, and Let’s Talk Finance workbooks for them to run the courses.

Outcomes

TRAINING BY NEWLY ACCREDITED FACILITATORS

In the summer of 2023 about 650 employees went through the Let’s Talk Finance course as the first training of their onboarding curriculum. The success of the program meant it was similarly used in 2024. The course was delivered by the accredited facilitators, mostly virtually but sometimes in-person.

BENEFITS FOR ALL LEARNERS

The results were outstanding. Not only did the employees learn how accounting works in a highly accelerated way, but their ability to communicate and engage others on the topic was strengthened. This bodes well for client interaction.

The surprising result for their learning and development managers was that the employees, who had previously studied accounting at university, reported significant benefit from attending the training, as much as those who had no previous accounting education.

Value delivered

The Color Accounting™ learning method delivered a significant return on investment to one of the world’s leading professional service firms, who have embedded the methodology in their professional training program.
